Carolyn Cooper is professor of literary and cultural studies at the University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica. She is the author of Sound Clash: Jamaican Dancehall Culture at Large (2004) and Noises in the Blood: Orality, Gender and the 'Vulgar' Body of Jamaican Popular Culture (1993). She is completing a selection of her (W)uman Tong(ue) newspaper columns for publication as a book. Professor Cooper will be presenting a public lecture entitled “Sweet and Sour Sauce: Sexual Politics in Jamaican Dancehall Culture.”
